Better Jobs Ontario program logo

Better Jobs Ontario (formerly Second Career) is a provincial funding program for laid-off workers in Ontario who are retraining for in-demand careers. Commercial truck driving consistently ranks on Ontario's in-demand list, so MELT training is a qualifying program.

Approved applicants can receive funding toward tuition, books, transportation, and basic living allowance during their training period. We're a registered career college under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, which means our MELT program meets the program-eligibility requirements.

If you were injured on the job and can't return to your previous occupation, WSIB Ontario can fund retraining for a new career. Your WSIB case manager can refer you to vocational training programs like ours and authorize coverage for tuition and materials.

We've worked with WSIB-funded students before and can coordinate billing directly with your case manager, so you don't have to pay upfront and claim back later.

Some carriers and other employers will sponsor driver training as part of recruitment or upskilling. Sponsorship can range from partial tuition assistance to fully covered training tied to an employment commitment.

We work with sponsorship programs to handle direct billing, attendance records, and completion documentation, so your employer's HR or payroll team has everything they need with minimal back-and-forth.

Covers
Varies, often full or partial tuition
How to apply
Ask your employer if they offer training sponsorship

We offer in-house monthly payment plans that split tuition into manageable installments over the course of your training plus a few months afterward. Most of our self-funded students use this option.

Terms are flexible based on your situation, no hidden fees, no third-party finance company involved. Just a clear agreement between you and the school.

Best for
Self-funded students who want to spread cost out
Covers
Full tuition, paid in monthly installments
How to apply
Mention payment plans when you enroll

All our courses are tax deductible as tuition expenses on your federal tax return. We're a registered career college under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, which qualifies our students for the federal tuition tax credit.

We automatically issue T2202 tax slips for the calendar year in which your training was paid. Many students recover a meaningful portion of tuition when they file the following spring. Talk to your accountant about how the credit applies to your specific situation.
